Join us every Saturday for an art talk in conjunction with our ongoing exhibition, Never was a shade Part 1, where exhibition curator Prajna Desai leads sessions weaving through works on display while ranging across resonant art practices, histories, or theories that map the exhibition's central enthusiasm, trees.
The schedule is as follows:
Saturday | 23 May | 5 pm: Living Web
Encounters with selected histories and approaches to the natural world in a session that overlaps the cognitive value of emotion & imaginative thinking with the emotive probing of empirical big data.
Bansri Chavda and Rahul Juneja
Saturday | 30 May | 5 pm: Time and Immersion
Immersion in place and its peculiarities requires a certain irreverence towards speed. Even a latent conviction that things will eventually start to glow with significance if we pay close attention. This session looks at immersive practices that heed to botanical time.
Claire Baker, Debabrata Hazra, Palvi Godambe
Saturday | 6 June | 5 pm: Vitality
Forms of vitality in ethno eco literature, art history, ways of seeing.
Nisha Manavi, Sandeep Mukherjee, and Soumya Netrabile
Saturday | 13 June | 5 pm: Seeking
A session about trees that roams through touch, mark making, and the primoridal yen for seeking, sometimes inaccessible truths.
R. Magesh and Neha Choksi
