Soumya Netrabile

Soumya Netrabile (b. 1966) was born in Bangalore, India, and lives and works in Chicago,
Illinois. Her paintings explore the evolving connections and intersections between herself and the natural world. With a background in both science and art—having earned a BSEE from Rutgers University and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago—her approach blends analytical curiosity with emotive expression.

Netrabile draws equally from her daily interactions and from broader cultural influences, including music, literature, science and visual art. Each canvas becomes a space where nature and sensorial experience intertwine, offering a contemplative and often, psychological, reflection about her place within the natural world. Netrabile received a BFA from the School of Art Institute of Chicago (1995) and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University (1988).
