Episodes (Without A Real Order)

Project 88 Mumbai in collaboration with Sunaparanta, Goa Centre for the Arts is proud to present a new show by photographer, Leonardo Pucci from 21st June 2018 to 5th July 2018. The show titled Episodes (without a real order) is the first solo photographic exhibition by Leonardo Pucci. With curatorial direction by Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi, the show is produced by patrons Dipti and Dattaraj Salgaocar. With a deft hand and a genius for discretion, Leonardo Pucci showcases private, intimate moments in the lives of individuals or couples in a candid fashion, capturing their vulnerabilities as well as well as their sensual side. However, what interests Pucci most is the observer’s narrative to these images – curiosity and emotion, coupled with vague and subtle feelings of discomfort or embarrassment.

Even when the subject is an inanimate object, Pucci presents every image suspended perfectly in space and time, like the episode of an indefinite story - “they appear strangely like a canvas that everyone recognizes, adding their own meanings, tales and emotions which go beyond the image itself.” Pucci work comprises unique, almost three dimensional chromatic contrasts and strong geometric compositions. Describing his episodes, Pucci says, “My photographs are like theatrical settings where the real protagonist is the observer’s intimacy and that’s why these shots are impressed in his mind as emotions, sensations and memories.”
