Last Mile indexes difficulties in infrastructure delivery in the digital age. In cities without full coverage to begin with, which are making history by leapfrogging into a digital future and into broadcast space, the Last Mile becomes a special metaphor for transformations of all kinds - spatial, social and cultural. The last mile is that special distance which is charged and encoded with both history and possibility, with great risk and fevered hope. Highlighting a city suspended in a state of emergence, these images and the accompanying essays are records of the barely sublimated dream life of the new city, of a city in constant construction and excavation, never quite there but always at the last mile.
